The active COVID-19 cases in the Philippines rose to 37,942 after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 4,203 new infections.

This is the fifth straight day that more than 4,000 new COVID-19 cases were recorded in the country.

In a health bulletin, the DOH said the number of active cases went up from the 37,805 monitored on Sunday and is the highest since April 1 when 39,315 were recorded.

This brings the nationwide COVID-19 tally to 3,808,156.

Metro Manila recorded the highest new cases in the last 14 days with 16,003, the DOH said. It was followed by Region IV-A with 10,229; Region III with 5,226; Region VI with 2,819 and Region VII with 2,234.
