Ahead of the 2025 elections, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), chaired by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., allied with the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).
President Marcos witnessed the signing of an alliance between the two political parties on Wednesday, May 8, at the Manila Polo Club in Makati City.
House Speaker Martin Romualdez, the president of Lakas-CMD, and Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the chairman emeritus of the party, also witnessed the signing.
"We mark today a significant moment not just for Philippine politics, but also for the field of public service, as we now formalize the, as the members of both parties have now formalized and build an alliance that will propel our country towards the Bagong Pilipinas that we envision," President Marcos said during the signing.
During the 2022 elections, Lakas-CMD supported Marcos in the Presidential race, and his running-mate, now Vice President Sara Duterte, ran under the banner of the party.
Filipinos will vote for new senators, members of the House of Representatives, and local officials in the upcoming 2025 mid-term polls.
