Good news to all fur parents!

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) on Thursday confirmed that passengers with cats and dogs are now allowed to ride the Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2).

During the Laging Handa Public Briefing, LRTA Administrator Hernando Cabrera announced that pets can enter the train station starting Wednesday, February 1.

But he said there are certain guidelines that pet owners need to follow.

According to Cabrera, cats and dogs must be fully vaccinated and must be inside a proper cage.

"Of course, dapat malinis [ang cage]. Naka-diaper [ang mga pet]. 'Yung mga usual na alituntunin na pinapatupad ng mga pet-friendly natin na establishment, ganoon din ang ating ii-implement," he said.

The LRTA administrator also noted that pets on leashes may cause "operational problems inside the train or station", therefore they are urging owners to put them inside a cage.

When asked if there are specific pet sizes allowed, Cabrera said they are discouraging "large" ones.

"Kapag malalaki na, mahihirapan naman na ipasok doon sa tren. Alam mo naman siksikan kung minsan sa tren," he explained.

Cabrera said they are now briefing their security personnel on the new policy.

He added that they are expecting that there would be concerns in the first week of the new policy's implementation.

"Ang sa atin lang naman is i-implement natin at ayusin natin whatever operational concerns at issues na makakaharap natin, later on," Cabrera said.
