Tropical cyclone Pepito rapidly intensified into a typhoon as it continues its westward movement, PAGASA reported on Friday.
In its 11 AM weather bulletin, PAGASA reported that Typhoon Pepito was located 630 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, with maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h, gusts reaching up to 160 km/h, and moving westward at 30 km/h.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals No. 2 is hoistd in the following areas:

- northern portion of Eastern Samar
Furthermore, TCWS No. 1 is in effect in these areas:
Luzon
- southeastern portion of Quezon
- Camarines Norte
- Camarines Sur
- Catanduanes

- Sorsogon

- The rest of Northern Samar
- the rest of Eastern Samar
- Samar
- Biliran
The highest possible wind signal level during Typhoon Pepito’s approach may reach wind signal No. 5.
Over the next five days, Typhoon Pepito is forecasted to move in a west-northwestward direction.
Additionally, Typhoon Pepito is expected to make landfall near Catanduanes by tomorrow evening (November 16) or early Sunday morning (November 17).
Pepito will likely intensify quickly from today through tomorrow and could achieve super typhoon status before it makes landfall tomorrow night or early Sunday.
