Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Antique head Karyn Duay is proud to announce that a total of 25 persons deprived with liberty (PDLs) under the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) are now equipped in electrical installation and maintenance (EIM) after completing a 25-day training.
In an interview on Tuesday, Duay said that the trainees belong to the special sector who applied for the training in EIM National Certificate II which was helf at the BJMP premises from December 9, 2022 until February 1, 2023.
Also, Duay mentioned that the skills traininng was conducted for the PDLs to find a good source of living as barangay electricians the sooner they get release from the BJMP.
The inmates also attended an entrepreneural lecture so they can improve their marketing skills if ever they plan to be self-employed after leaving the facility.
Meanwhile, Antique Representative Antonio Agapito Legarda initiated the funding for the TESDA training under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) scholarship for the PDLs.
