The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed dangerous drugs and controlled precursors and essential chemicals (CPECs) worth PHP19.9 billion in Cavite on Thursday.
A total of 3.7 tons of narcotics seized during various anti-drug operations were destroyed at the Trece Martires City facility of Integrated Waste Management, Inc. (IWMI).
According to the PDEA Laboratory Service's consolidated report, the total weight of the destroyed drug evidence and its estimated value is 2,715 kg. 306.78 kg of methamphetamine hydrochloride, also known as shabu, is worth PHP 18.4 billion. 407.7 grams of cocaine worth PHP2.1 million; 340.8 grams of ecstasy worth PHP1.3 million; and CPECs like diazepam, nitrazepam, ketamine, and liquid marijuana, among others.
Also, 20,000 milliliters of surrendered expired medicines were destroyed.
Representatives from the Departments of Justice, Interior, and Local Government, as well as local officials from Barangay Aguado in Trece Martires City, as well as representatives from the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies, non-governmental organizations, and media partners, as well as key PDEA officials, were present.
