In support of the government's implementation of the Universal Health Care Law, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has donated P834.2 million to the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).
PhilHealth executives Ell Dino Santos, Renato Limsiaco Jr., and Ma. Emily Roque received the donation amounting P834,219,343.15 from PCSO director Jennifer Liongson-Guevara and assistant general manager for the charity sector Larry Cedro last Thursday at the PCSO central office in Mandaluyong City.
Mel Robles, general manager of the PCSO, stated that the funds would be transferred to the Bureau of Treasury.
The PCSO is required by Republic Act 11223, often known as the Universal Health Care Law, to donate 40% of its charitable donations to help finance the government's health initiatives.
Robles stated that the PCSO is working hard this year to exceed its income target in order to raise more funds for the national government's health and other charitable projects.
The PCSO earned P57,398,550.90 in revenue from its gaming products in 2022, including lotto, digit games, small town lottery, quick sweepstakes, and keno.
Last year, the charity exceeded its sales target of P46.1 billion by 125 percent.
