Two fishermen were rescued after their boat submerged in the vicinity waters off Barangay Cantagda, Cajidiocan, Romblon, on Thursday, February 1, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.
PCG said the incident happened at around midnight when their underway boat sank after it got hit by a whale shark.
The rescued fishermen were identified as Edgardo Lozano, 60, and Harry Lozano, 51, both residents of Barangay Maragondon, Cajidiocan, Romblon.
A search and rescue operation was launched by the Coast Guard Sub Station Cajidiocan and successfully located the two fishermen onboard.
The two fishermen were transferred to the SAR team's boat and headed to the shoreline of Brgy. Danao, Cajidiocan. Meanwhile, their submerged fishing boat was towed by FBCA John Glemen, and they were immediately rescued and safely returned to their respective homes.
