

One crew member died while eight others were reported missing after a fishing boat capsized in the waters off Baganga, Davao Oriental on Thursday morning, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported on Friday.
According to PCG's latest incident report, the captain of Genesis 2 recounted that the boat was half-sank after encountering a sudden change in sea condition at around 1 AM.
The Coast Guard said it had deployed BRP Tubbataha to respond to the marine incident.
"Fishing boats in the vicinity immediately conducted search and rescue (SAR) operations and ensured the safety of 14 crew," it said, adding that the fishing company of Genesis 2 also deployed its fleet to augment the SAR operations.
The fishing boat was carrying 23 crew members.
Of the number, 14 crew were successfully rescued.
