The official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) was hacked, as confirmed by PCG Spokesperson Armand Balilo on Thursday, February 15.
"The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) announces that its official X (formerly Twitter) account - @coastguardph - has been compromised as of today, 15 February 2024," Balilo said in a message received by RH Christian Maño.
The header and profile photos of PCG's X account have been removed.
The Coast Guard's tweets and posts have been deleted as well.
Most of the like posts of PCG were posts of SatoshiVM whose account bio says that it is a "contributor based Bitcoin ZK Rollup Layer 2 solution with native BTC gas."

The hack against PCG came weeks after the attempted cyber attacks on the official websites of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.
The information and communications department said it traced the hacker at a "command and control center" operating in China.
Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin, however, denied the report and said they condone all forms of cyberattacks.
