The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is set to conduct another trilateral maritime exercise alongside the United States and Japan from Friday, June 6, to June 25.
Earlier in the day, the PCG held a send-off ceremony for BRP Teresa Magbanua in its Manila office.
The Philippine contingent is helmed by PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, who will lead the 44-meter multi-role response vessel and 123 PCG personnel to Japan.
An initial trilateral maritime exercise was held in the waters off Mariveles, Bataan in June 2023, which saw the participation of BRP Melchora Aquino, BRP Gabriela Silang, and BRP Boracay.
The exercise aims to boost maritime security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, maritime law enforcement, and search and rescue through simulated scenarios involving piracy and interception exercises, in order to enhance collaboration among the three countries.
