A ₱3.875 million worth of illicit cigarettes in the vicinity waters of Sitio Malabong Barangay 2, Ilog, Negros Occidental were captured by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) last week, July 9.
In a report on Tuesday, July 16, the PCG said the crew carrying the smuggled cigarretes had been arrested and confiscated an approximate 155 boxes.
The interception was led by Coast Guard District Western Visayas (CGDWV), which joined the Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), and Bantay Dagat-IIlog.
"The CGDWV turned over the illicit cigarettes to BIR Region 12, while the PNP-IIlog took custody over the crew for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges," the PCG said.
