

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) swiftly came to the aid of the crew manning a cargo vessel that had caught fire in the waters by Limbones Island, Nasugbu in Batangas on Sunday, March 30.
The BRP Boracay was able to rescue MV Castphill XV’s captain and six other crew members at approximately 4:27 AM, the PCG said in a statement.
The Coast Guard Sub-Station (CGSS) Maragondon, Cavite also brought five more crew members to safety at around 7:35 AM. The crew members were subsequently taken to a Coast Guard facility for medical attention.
Within the hour, BRP Boracay arrived at Pier 15, South Harbor in Manila. From there, the crew members were turned over to the Coast Guard Medical Dispensary for further medical evaluation.
The PCG has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Additionally, the PCG, as well as Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon assured the public that both agencies are committed to upholding maritime safety.
