Armed Forces of the Philippines' (AFP) last rotation and resupply mission (RoRe) at the BRP Sierra Madre conducted on Sunday, October 22, was ‘partially successful’ after one of the two Philippine vessels was damaged by the China Coast Guard (CCG) vessel in the West Philippine Sea.
In a report by RH 52 Edniel Parrosa, the AFP monitored five CCG vessels, 16 Chinese maritime militia vessels, and two people’s liberation army vessels surrounding the Ayungin Shoal before the collision occurred.
Earlier, the PCG delivered supplies to the BRP Sierra Madre, which was anchored in the Ayungin Shoal, when the Chinese ships collided with it in Philippine territory.
Moreover, the PCG said that CCG vessels are closely monitoring BRP Cabra the night before the latest RoRe mission, and the Chinese ships intend to separate the PCG ships, BRP Cabra, and AFP-contracted supply boats prior to the incident.
