Aside from purchasing cutting-edge equipment, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. vowed the government to continue focusing on military retooling and retraining to increase readiness on the modern battlefield.
Marcos reaffirmed his commitment to the Armed Forces during his statement at the graduation rites of the Philippine Army Officer Candidate Course "Gaigmat" Class 58-2023 on July 7 at Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City.
Marcos assured that he would continue to prioritize retooling and retraining to arm them with intellectual fortitude, tactical prowess, and strategic acumen to thrive on the modern battlefield.
Officer candidates attend the Officer Candidate School for a full year of training in soldiery and leadership. Officer applicants will be commissioned as Second Lieutenants upon graduation.
Marcos expressed optimism that the Armed Forces modernization program would be resumed once the country recovered from the pandemic.
