President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Monday directed the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to provide him with high-level security intelligence as they face new challenges in a shifting security environment.
During the oath-taking ceremony for newly promoted military officials in Malacañang, Marcos, who is the current AFP commander-in-chief, stated that military officers are responsible for efficiently managing the organization and its assets as well as keeping it functional and resilient.
He added that they are also expected to guide and mobilize the nation's new guardians and future leaders, instilling in them the virtues of discipline, valor, and patriotic public service.
Declaring that the AFP is in a "new era," Marcos said that the military is looking outward while building on domestic victories.
The President cautioned military leaders that additional challenges will "undoubtedly" lie ahead amid the "ever-changing" dynamics of geopolitics and the global security environment.
Meanwhile, forty military generals and flag officers received their oaths of higher rank before the president, including 10 major generals and 14 brigadier generals from the Philippine Army.
