President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. held a successful meeting with members of the US Senate on Wednesday, focusing on a wide range of issues such as defense and security, agriculture, climate change, economic cooperation, and cyber security.

During his address to the panel, Marcos expressed gratitude to Sen. Robert Menendez, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the rest of the delegation for the opportunity to engage in frank and productive discussions on the current state of Philippines-US relations.

Given his experience in the Philippine House of Representatives and Senate, Marcos emphasized that the relationship between the two nations should not only involve the executive branch but also the legislature.

He acknowledged the key role of defense and security engagement in the Philippines-US bilateral relations, praising the United States for working with the Philippine government as an equal and sovereign partner.
