President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. will be going on a back-to-back trip to Brunei Darussalam and Singapore for state visits, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Friday.
In a Palace briefing, DFA spokesperson Teresita Daza said the Chief Executive, accompanied by First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, will be undertaking bilateral meetings with the Brunei Sultanate on May 28-29 and in Singapore from May 30-31 to deliver a keynote address at the International Institute For Strategic Studies Shangri-La Dialogue.
Marcos is also expected to meet with the Filipino community in Brunei during his state visit.
"The President will also meet with the Filipino community where he will highlight contributions of more than 20,000 Filipinos currently residing in Brunei," Daza added.
Meanwhile, the President's speech in Singapore will mark the opening of the 21st edition of the dialogue, which is Asia’s premier defense summit.
According to Daza, the dialogue will provide a good platform for defense ministers, military chiefs, government officials, and security experts around the world to discuss regional and global security challenges.
Brunei and Singapore will be the seventh and eighth countries, respectively, that Marcos will visit this 2024.
