President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has encouraged local government officials to continue promoting effective governance and strengthen ties with the national government in order to achieve the administration’s plans.
He made the remark during the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected officers of the Provincial Member League of the Philippines (PBMLP) held in Malacañang Palace on Tuesday, according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in a press release.
“We need your help in the national government. We have to work together. We have to know what the local conditions are. We have to know what… Hanggang sa political rivalries kailangan malaman natin. All of these things are important,” Marcos said, as quoted by the PCO.
He added that strengthening the local and national government partnership is the only way to maximize the “resources, time, and energy” that they are investing.
According to the President, his administration is trying to balance supporting local government autonomy and allowing local government units (LGUs) to collaborate with the national government.
“Para maging maayos naman ang patakbo natin para in sync ang local government at saka sa national government,” he said.
Meanwhile, the PCO said Marcos assured to extend assistance to LGU to develop their resources in observance of the Supreme Court's Mandanas verdict.
