President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. is set to meet United States President Joe Biden on the sidelines of the 77th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Thursday (Manila time), according to the Malacañang.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Sept. 21, Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles announced the scheduled meeting and described it as a "momentous event” for the two world leaders.
“Inaasahang matalakay ng dalawang world leader ang pagpapatatag ng relasyong Pilipinas-US na nasa 76 na taon na ng kooperasyon, pagpapayabong ng kalakalan, pamumuhunan sa ating bansa, at iba pang isyu na kinakaharap ng mundo,” she said.

In July, Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez confirmed that Biden invited Marcos to visit Washington D.C. once both of them find an appropriate time.
Marcos was the first world leader to speak in the UNGA high-level general debate on Wednesday.
In his speech, he addressed climate change, appealed for a fair international system, and sought support from state members for the Philippines’ bid for a UN security council seat.
