Employees from the Department of Agriculture (DA) are set to receive a bonus as part of the department’s 125th founding Anniversary, President and DA Secretary Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. announced on Tuesday.
During the DA's anniversary program held in Quezon City, Marcos announced that he will grant employees the anniversary bonus.
“Binubulungan ako ng butihiing Senadora [Cynthia Villar] at ating mga kasamahan at kawani ng DA na sayang naman ang dami nating pinagagawa sa tao…. Dahil anniversary ay dapat may bonus,” he said.
“So dagdagan naman natin ng kaonti para may bonus. Bakit hindi?” Marcos added.
The President, however, did not specify the exact amount of the bonus.
Meanwhile, Marcos vowed that the agriculture department will exhaust efforts in finding ways to increase agricultural productivity in a bid to lower the prices in the market and prevent importation.
The President mulls increasing agricultural productivity in rice, corn, livestock, as well as fisheries.
He noted that programs are now in place for the boosting of agriculture production.
“Sasabihin ko na sa inyo, the Soil Health Program, the Aquaculture Development Program, the Biotech Research for Fisheries. But that is only what we talked about upstairs,” Marcos said.
