President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. wants to hasten the construction of housing units and the awarding of land titles for the victims of the Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.
The President made the call to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) during the 10th Anniversary of ST Yolanda on Wednesday, November 8, in Tacloban City.
"Let us continue to work hard so that we can provide them with the tools and the resources to rebuild their lives," Marcos said during the commemoration held at the Tacloban City Convention Center.
He also told Yolanda Response Clusters to 'work closely with concerned local governments to address the lingering issues of the different affected communities'.
The Chief Executive assured that the government strives to ensure that the Philippines can avoid, and adapt to tragedies simillar to ST Yolanda, which resulted to the deaths of more than 6,000 indivdiduals.
Marcos mentioned that these efforts include the building disaster-resilient evacuation centers and emergency operations centers.
"We are also putting in place more centralized and efficient early warning systems, incident command systems, and disaster response strategies," the President said.
"The development and deployment of new technologies, such as GeoRiskPH and PlanSmart, along with the continuous conduct of information and education campaigns, simulation drills are also aimed to save lives," he added.
Marcos also urged the private sector to partner with the government to bolster the disaster preparedness, recovery, and resiliency of the Philippines.
