President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. reminded the officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to not abuse their powers and that the use of force must be reasonable, justifiable, and only when necessary.

“Execution of authority must be fair, it must be impartial, it must be devoid of favoritism, and discrimination, regardless of race, gender, economic status, political affiliations, religious beliefs and the like,” he said in his speech during the 121st Police Service Anniversary at the Camp Crame, Quezon City on Monday, Aug. 8.

He said if the police officials adhere to these principles, it is only then they will sustain great respect and receive wide support for their authority as “uniform servicemen of the Republic”.

"This is what I considered good governance," he added.

The President reminded the importance of conducting their duty with utmost integrity and accountability.

“Let us not allow even a hint of dishonesty and abuse to enter into that narrative. You are the vanguards of peace. You set the example of the kind of leaders that we need to overcome the hindrance of today,” he said.

He also emphasized the gravity of the responsibility an official carries requires adherence to moral principles, integrity, accountability, and honesty.

“As police officers, many of you have manifested the important values that must be inherent in the conduct and execution of your duties. The gravity, the seriousness, the difficulty of the responsibility, and relative influence that you carry; it is must that the application of your mandate is firmly grounded to moral principles, integrity, accountability, and honesty to ensure and continue public rapor and support from the public to the PNP,” he stressed out.

Marcos also extended his gratitude for the officials’ service and said he looks forward to their continued excellence as time goes on and as they continue development programs for the country.
