President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. ordered the immediate repair and completion of the damaged revetment wall in Cebu City to protect residents from possible flooding during the upcoming rainy season.

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon cited the effects of Typhoon Tino, the unprotected area near the community gate, and the incomplete flood wall along the Butuanon River during his inspection last month in the area.

“The President sent me here, I told Governor [Pamela Baricuatro], to assure our residents na we have to build a protection to prevent the water from coming in [to Villa Del Rio 1] again. The President has instructed us to work double time, paspas po tayo ngayong summer para po before the rainy season comes, protected na po ‘yung ating gate for the unprotected areas dito sa Villa Del Rio,” the DPWH secretary said.

Moreover, he said that dredging and deepening of canals, esteros, and rivers, like the Butuanon and Mananga Rivers, would continue to prevent the water from overflowing, RH Boy Gonzales reported.

Pursuant to the president’s directive, Dizon said the government aims to ensure that the severe flooding caused by Typhoon Tino last November 2025 would not recur.
