Former First Lady Imelda Marcos, who has been diagnosed with slight pneumonia, is "in good spirits" and has been "resting well" in the hospital.

This was confirmed by her son President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. in a official statement released Tuesday, March 5.

"I just spoke with my mother’s doctors. She is suffering from slight pneumonia and is running a fever. She has been put on a course of antibiotics and the doctors are confident that this will relieve her fever," he said.

"She is in good spirits, has no difficulty in breathing and is resting well," Marcos Jr. added.

The presidential sister Senator Imee Marcos first confirmed that their mother has been confined to a hospital due to cough and fever.

Speaking to reporters in an interview on March 6, Imee said Imelda is in good condition.

"Wala ng lagnat pero nag-iingat lang kami dahil sa kaniyang edad. I think she's alright. Nag-iingat lang kasi nga sa edad," she said.

The former first lady is now 94 years old.
