President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. is available to meet former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to discuss the investigation against the Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI), according to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Sunday, January 7.
In a brief statement acquired by RH Leth Narciso, PCO Secretary Cheloy Garafil confirmed that Marcos will contact Duterte to settle the details of their meeting.
“President Marcos is always available to former President Duterte. The President will contact him now to ask if he wants a meeting,” she said.
In December, the Movie and Television Review And Classification Board suspended the “Gikan Sa Masa, Para Sa Masa", a program hosted by the former President, for 14 days due to “reported death threats and profane language.”
In the same month, the National Telecommunications Commission imposed a 30-day preventive suspension order against SMNI for allegedly violating the terms and conditions of its legislative franchise.
On Saturday, January 6, Duterte said that he wanted to “indirectly talk” with Marcos about the probe against the broadcast media.
“I want to talk to him indirectly kung bakit ganon? As far as I am concerned, I have not crucified him, criticized him severely, commented on the direction of the government proceeding,” he conveyed during a press conference in Davao City.
The former President remained firm that SMNI did not violate any law.
