President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. revealed on Tuesday, October 15, that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) pardoned a total of 143 Filipinos.
The President made the announcement after his call with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed.
The Chief Executive said that he thanked President Mohamed for the kindness extended by the UAE to Filipino workers in the Arab state.
"It is always inspiring to hear how our Filipino workers continue to excel and make a positive contribution in the UAE," President Marcos Jr. said in a Facebook post.
"I expressed my gratitude for the kindness extended to them, particularly their generous pardon of 143 Filipinos, which has brought relief to many families," he added.
President Marcos Jr. also voiced his gratitude for the humanitarian aid provided by the UAE to Philippines during the recent typhoons and floods that hit the country.
"Our nations share strong bonds, rooted in the values and aspirations of our peoples, and I look forward to strengthening this partnership in the years ahead," President Marcos Jr. stressed.
