In a report by RH Ruel Saldico, the P500-million facility, the first of its kind in the Bicol region, is designed to store fruits, vegetables, and other perishable agricultural products, ensuring proper processing and distribution while reducing post-harvest losses.
The President accompanied by Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel Jr. and Camarines Sur Governor Luis Raymund Villafuerte, the President also visited a fruit and food processing facility and engaged with local farmers during the event, signaling the government’s push to modernize the country’s agricultural logistics under the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act.
During the visit, Marcos also inspected a solar-powered irrigation project (SPIP) in Barangay Baliuag Viejo, Minalabac, expected to benefit more than 1,000 local farmers.
The project is part of the government’s broader efforts to boost farm productivity and support sustainable agriculture in the province.
Villafuerte expressed gratitude to the President for his continued support, along with Engr. Gaudencio John M. De Vera, Regional Manager of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Bicol, highlighting the positive impact of these projects on farmers’ livelihoods and regional agricultural output.
