President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured on Thursday that he is closely monitoring Taal Volcano's activity and that the government is prepared to respond in the event of another eruption.
"The people that we have there know what to do. So we just monitor the situation as soon as possible. Right now, PHILVOCS is seeing, huwag na nating alalahanin masyado," Marcos told reporters.
"But 'pag kinailangan, we will have to move people out of the danger area. We always do," he added.
The President stated that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for disaster response are already established, and that relevant government agencies and personnel are actively managing the situation.
Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 1 (low-level unrest), despite yesterday's reported phreatomagmatic eruption, which lasted approximately 11 minutes.
Meanwhile, Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla mentioned that Taal Volcano is now clear following yesterday's eruption, allowing residents and tourists to enjoy their weekend in Tagaytay.
