President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. made a strong statement on Wednesday, assuring that government officials who assisted suspended Mayor Alice Guo in leaving the country will be held accountable.
In his statement, the President emphasized that such actions "undermine the justice system and erode public trust."
"Let me be clear: Heads will roll," Marcos declared. "We will expose the culprits who have betrayed the people's trust and aided in her escape."
Marcos underscored that there is no place in the government for those who prioritize personal interests over serving the Filipino people with honor, integrity, and justice.
The President announced that a full-scale investigation is already underway. He promised that those found responsible would face suspension and be held accountable to the 'fullest extent of the law'.
The move follows Senator Risa Hontiveros' revelation during a Senate session on Monday that Guo had left the country and traveled to Malaysia on July 18. The suspended mayor allegedly also visited Singapore to meet with her parents, Lin Wen Yi and Guo Jian Zhong.
Hontiveros accused certain officials of assisting Guo in successfully leaving the country.
"Mistulang reunion sila doon kasama sina Wesley Guo at Cassandra Ong," said Hontiveros.
"Who allowed this travesty to happen? Sinong may kagagawan nito? Hindi makakaalis si Alice Guo kung walang tumulong sa kanya na mga opisyales ng pamahalaan. Para tayong ginisa sa sarili nating mantika."

On Tuesday, Malacañang Palace directed the relevant agencies to cancel Guo's Philippine passport.
Based on the memorandum, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin noted that Guo is subject to a Senate arrest order for repeatedly failing to attend the Senate inquiry into illegal POGO activities.
