President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. congratulated Donald Trump after he received the required electoral votes to become the next President of the United States.
On Wednesday, November 6, the President praised Trump for his ‘victory’ in the 2024 US Presidential elections. As of writing, Trump, representing the Republican Party, has 279 electoral votes. He is up against the Democratic Party candidate Kamala Harris with 223 electoral votes.
With that, Marcos said that Trump’s likelihood of winning the elections is an “exercise that showed the strength of American values.”
“We look forward to working with President Trump on a wide range of issues that will yield mutual benefits for two nations with deep ties, shared beliefs, a common vision, and a long history of working together,” President Marcos Jr. said in a statement.
“I am hopeful that this unshakeable alliance, tested in war and peace, will be a force for good, blazing a path of prosperity and amity in the region and on both sides of the Pacific,” he added.
Marcos added that the said partnership is founded on the shared ideals of both countries, which are freedom and democracy. He expects a “better future” for everyone, as he recalled Trump’s “robust leadership”, citing that he met the latter in the past.
Voting for the 2024 US Presidential elections began earlier today, with numerous voters waiting in line to cast their votes.
