President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday conducted an aerial inspection on the entire provinces of Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, and Tarlac that were among the severely affected by Super Typhoon Karding.
In a Facebook post, Marcos announced that they found several areas that were still inundated with water.
"Nueva Ecija and Aurora are without power. We are sending gensets [generator sets] now," he added.
Marcos affirmed that the damage to public and private infrastructure were "minimal" and that the government services were operating at "full function".
“Main road thoroughfares are passable, communication is up and running,” he said.
Before the aerial assessment, the President presided over a situation briefing with government officials and conducted a press conference at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) office in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City on Monday morning.
Marcos reported that government agencies were organizing to airlift food materials, food packs, and water to Polillo Island, which was the most affected by the Karding onslaught.
“After we attend to food, water, shelter, clothes, and then the DWSD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) is also prepared to provide AICS (Assistance to individuals in crisis situations) to them,” he said in a press conference.
The AICS is a DSWD program that financially supports the recovery of individuals and families suffering from crises.
As of 11 am, PAGASA's forecast showed that Typhoon Karding continues moving westward over the West Philippine Sea towards Vietnam, and may exit the country on Monday night.
