President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. on Friday welcomed the conviction of the perpetrator in the brazen murder of Jullebee Ranara, a former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Kuwait.
In a statement posted on his Twitter account, the President commended the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), and the Kuwaiti authorities “for their continued pursuit of justice” for Ranara.
“We hope that the appeal process will be conducted fairly, and justice will be served accordingly,” he added.

Marcos then became sentimental, saying that he is comforted on the idea that the slain domestic helper and late DMW Secretary Susan ‘Toots’ are both smiling down from heaven.
“Their legacy serves as a reminder of our duty to protect and support our fellow countrymen, regardless of where in the world they may be,” the President said.
On Thursday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced that a juvenile justice court in Kuwait found the 17-year-old perpetrator guilty of murdering Jullebee.
He was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment for murder — a lesser penalty since he was still underage.
Jullebee’s killer was also sentenced to one year of imprisonment for driving without a license.
