President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. had cast his vote for the Barangay and Sangguniang Barangay Elections (BSKE) in Batac City, Ilocos Norte on Monday, Oct. 30.
In a live stream by Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM) posted on Facebook, Marcos arrived and cast his vote in Mariano Marcos Memorial Elementary School (MMMES) situated in Brgy. Lacub, Batac City.
In an interview with the media, Marcos advised Filipinos to choose the righteous officials and refrain from accepting money in exchange for their votes.
“Ang aking payo lang sa ating mga kababayan, huwag niyo naman itatapon ang inyong karapatan na makapili ng inyong mga barangay official dahil alam niyo naman na ang mga barangay official ang makakaharap ninyo araw-araw,” he said.
“Ito ang mga tinatakbuhan niyo para makatulong sa inyong problema. Kaya’t kung idadaan lang sa bayaran, mawawala ang boses niyo at hindi niyo maipili ang sino ba ang talagang mamuno diyan sa inyong barangay at sino ba talaga ang makakatulong sa inyo na harapin ang iba’t ibang problema,” Marcos added.
The Chief Executive stated that the results of the BSKE 2023 have great importance.
“What happens here in the barangay elections is going to have an effect on the results of the midterm elections and subsequently in the national elections. It is that important,” he said.
