President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. on Wednesday assured assistance and support to Filipinos affected by the strong earthquake in Taiwan.
"We stand ready to assist and support our fellow Filipinos in Taiwan in any way possible during this difficult period," Marcos said in an X (formerly Twitter) post.
The President stated that the Department of Migrant Workers "is diligently ensuring the safety of the 159,480 Filipinos currently residing in Taiwan."
Marcos expressed his sympathies to the Taiwanese who are enduring the quake's aftermath.

A magnitude 7.5 quake jolted Taiwan, leaving 9 people dead, hundreds of people injured, and several buildings damaged. The epicenter was located 18 kilometers south of Taiwan’s Hualien City.
Japan and the Philippines respectively issued a tsunami warning following the quake.
The Philippines then lifted the tsunami warning as it did not detect disturbances from 7:58 AM to 10 AM in Batanes Group of Islands, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, and Isabela.
