President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. assured that the review of the national budget approved by the bicameral conference committee for the coming year is still ongoing.
In an interview at Malacañang on Monday, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. explained that the process is not yet complete.
Marcos further explained that the figures from the Bicam report are still in total form, and the specific details remain unclear, prompting further review.
He assured that the questionable items will be carefully examined to ensure that they do not pose any disadvantages.
The President is expected to sign the 2025 national budget, which amounts to P6.352 trillion.
Earlier, Senator Imee Marcos, the President's sister, urged President Marcos to postpone signing the proposed 2025 national budget, stressing the importance of additional review and prioritizing key sectors and programs.
Several government agencies, including the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), and Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), are facing budget cuts under the 2025 General Appropriations Bill (GAA).
