President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. has appointed Maria Lourdes Doria-Velarde as acting member of Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-Ibig) board of trustees, replacing Mylah Roque who is the wife of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.
The appointment was announced by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in a Facebook post on Monday, February 12.
Doria-Velarde will be representing the private employers’ sector, as per PCO.
The communications office said Doria-Velarde previously served as Duty-Free Philippines' deputy general manager for administration and was a former board of trustees member of Nayon Pilipino Foundation and Intercontinental Broadcasting Corp.
"She is also a content creator and culinary arts expert," it added.
Meanwhile, in a Facebook post, Roque said it was an honor for her to serve the people.
"I serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority. I’ve had the privilege to work with the finest public servants in the country. Thank you," she said in a Facebook post.
Roque conveyed that she is proud that Pag-Ibig is one of the most trusted government-owned corporations and has always been receiving the highest audit rating from the Comission on Audit.
"I am also especially proud of the fact that I worked with a board and a management team that were very mindful of the mandate to encourage workers to save and help people realize the dream to own a home. It has been an honor," she furthered.
