President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. chaired a situation briefing with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and government agencies on Wednesday to assess the impact of Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
Accompanying the President were key agencies such as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
During the briefing, Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. recommended placing the National Capital Region under a state of calamity due to severe rainfall and flooding caused by the typhoon and southwest monsoon.
Abalos also informed that he had issued directives to local government units to monitor situations in their respective municipalities and assist with evacuations if necessary.
Ahead of the briefing, President Marcos directed all concerned agencies to swiftly provide assistance to individuals affected by Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
