

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has accepted the irrevocable resignation of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago.
According to RH Jecelle Ricafort, The development was confirmed during the bureau’s flag-raising ceremony in Pasay City, where Santiago announced that he had already been informed of the President’s decision.
He declined to identify his successor but said the appointment order from Malacañang is expected to be released soon.
According to Santiago, the incoming NBI Director will likely come from among Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres or Assistant Secretary Eliseo Cruz, both of whom were previously recommended by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
He also clarified that the new appointee is not among Deputy Directors Jose Justo Yap or Antonio Pagatpat, who had been endorsed by the NBI Retirees and Ex-Employees Association, Inc.
Santiago said he will return to private life for the time being and will consider other opportunities if offered a new position in the future. He also urged his successor to continue the reforms and programs he started during his tenure
Before leaving office, Santiago expressed his gratitude to NBI personnel and members of the media who covered the bureau, taking time to personally bid them farewell
A reliable source told DZRH News that former NBI Assistant Director Lito Magno has been designated as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Director of the agency.
Magno previously served in the NBI regional offices in Northern Mindanao and Central Luzon, where he led several major operations against human trafficking and organized crime.
