PBA moves opening of 48th season to November
by Kristan Carag12 September 2023

Fans of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) will have to wait longer before seeing the league resume action.

PBA rescheduled the opening of Season 48 to November 5, three weeks later from the original start date of October 15.

The league made the decision in order to provide respite for PBA players who will represent the country in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

The men's 5-on-5 basketball competition of the Hangzhou Games will begin on September 26 and run until October 6.

"Hindi biro ang sakripisyo nila kaya dapat lang bigyan natin sila ng sapat na panahon para makapagpahinga," PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said.

"Gusto rin natin makapaghanda ang mga teams para sa darating na season," he added.

Meanwhile, Marcial assured that the PBA Draft Combine will go through on September 12 and September 13, while the annual rookie draft will proceed as scheduled on September 17.
