The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) continues to crack the whip against players involved in 'ligang labas' tournaments.
PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial slapped a Php 50,000 fine against Kent Salado of Northport Batang Pier, as well as the Blackwater Bossing duo of Renato Ular and Rey Suerte.
The PBA said that the three players joined an invitation tournament in Davao City without seeking permission from their respective mother teams, or the league.
Marcial met with Salado, Ular and Suerte at the PBA office in Libis, Quezon City before imposing the fines against them.
The PBA, earlier, imposed fines on 10 players who participated in 'ligang labas' matches.
Meanwhile, Rain or Shine Elasto Painters also penalized Jhonard Clarito, one of the 10 players earlier fined by the PBA.
The Elasto Painters said that Clarito breached his PBA Uniform Players' Contract by participating in an unsanctioned exhibition game.
"A fine of two (2) days worth of salary has been imposed on Jhonard," the Elasto Painters announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday, May 9.
