Four-points will soon become a staple for the PBA.
PBA announced on Monday, July 22, that the league will implement the 'four-point' shot from beyond the 27-foot arc around the basket in regular games starting next season.
"Nagawa na natin ito sa All-Star Game. With this rule, mababawasan ang zone defense, lalabas ang depensa at mas tutulin ang laro," explained Alfrancis Chua, the newly-elected PBA Board of Governors vice chairperson.
The league decided on the change during the annual planning session of the PBA Board of Governors.
PBA started implementing the four-point baskets during the 2023 All-Star game in Passi, Iloilo.
The league also adopted the four-point shot during the 2024 All-Star Game in Bacolod, and Robert Bolick made history for being the first player to complete a five-point play in the history of the PBA.
PBA Season 49 will begin on August 18.
