Questions arise whether the passengers of the MBCA Princess Aya have been wearing life vests when the vessel capsized on Thursday, July 27, at the waters of Laguna De Bay.

Ferdinand Nogaliza, a passenger of a vessel that passed through the area where MBCA Princess Aya capsized, said that he saw the life vests floating in the water.

"Hindi namin alam kung may mga tao pa sa loob ng bangka kasi wala kaming nakikita na lumalangoy tapos yung mga life jacket ay nagkalat," Nogaliza told DZRH on Friday, July 28.

Nogaliza also revealed that passengers do not always need to wear a life vest before boarding a vessel in the Binangonan Port in Rizal, especially during fair weather.

"Kapag may Coast Guard lang," Nogaliza mentioned.

As of Friday, the Philippine Coast Guard reported that at least 26 people perished due to the capsizing of MBCA Princess Aya.

The PCG also recorded 40 survivors from the incident.
