Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has ordered the removal of election-related materials posted in public property across the city, even if it is his tarpaulin.

The prohibited election materials include posters, tarpaulins, and ribbons, according to a memorandum signed by City Administrator Jeronimo Manzanero.

"All posters, ribbons, and other related materials for purposes of electioneering and/or commercial purposes without express authorization of the city government are to be removed immediately from city-owned properties," the memorandum read.

Such election-related materials are not allowed on city-owned lamp posts, permiter walls, and city buildings, it continued.

"Kahit tarp ko pa yan," Sotto said on a tweet.

(Even if that is my tarp.)

However, the public is still allowed to post such materials as long as it is within their public-private properties.

If authorities removed said materials from private-owned areas, Sotto said the public may coordinate with the city government.

"If private property was included then this was a mistake, and [you] may report the Ugnayan sa Pasig instead of posting without knowing the details," Sotto said.

The order was enforced in compliance with the 2017 Pasig Revised Revenue Code, according to the memorandum.

It comes ahead of the campaign period, where there will be an expected hike of election-related materials promoted by various poll candidates along the streets.
