The local government unit (LGU) of Pasay firmly reiterated that illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) are not allowed to operate in the city.
In a statement, Calixto-Rubiano emphasized that the local government does not condone any illegal activities within its jurisdiction and upholds a zero-tolerance policy against POGO operations, prohibiting them in the city.
"Pasay City is 100% behind President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s call to end illegal POGO operations in the country. We do not tolerate unlawful activities within our jurisdiction," Calixto-Rubiano said.
"The Pasay LGU has already implemented and will continue to enforce strict measures to curb POGO operations in our jurisdictions," she added.
Furthermore, the city mayor mentioned that the LGU is implementing intensified monitoring, stringent regulatory enforcement, and unwavering cooperation with national law enforcement agencies.
Calixto-Rubiano clarified that the business permits granted to more than 13,000 establishments in the city this year were subjected to a comprehensive evaluation.
"NO BUSINESS PERMITS HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO ANY POGO. The recently raided POGO facilities were operating discreetly and in concealed locations. These facilities do not operate under any business license issued by Pasay City," she reiterated.
Moreover, she stated that the LGU has taken proactive steps to combat illegal POGOs by implementing a series of measures aimed at eliminating illicit operations.
They also added programs to enhance the skills of their personnel in identifying suspicious activities within business establishments, particularly those related to POGOs.
"Let me be clear: Pasay City has a zero-tolerance policy towards POGO operations, regardless of whether they are disguised, temporary, or operated as dummy entities. POGOs are not allowed in our city. This is not just a symbolic gesture; it reflects our commitment to eliminating POGO operations in our city," the mayor said in closing.
The PAOCC had previously stated that they are considering filing a case against local officials in Pasay City due to the ongoing POGO operations within their jurisdiction.
It is worth noting that the PAOCC raided SA Rivendell, Zun Yuan Technology, Kimberhi Technology, and most recently, the Heritage Hotel, all of which are located in Pasay City.
PAOCC spokesperson Casio stated that their agency is investigating the potential culpability and criminal liability of LGU officials, particularly those involved in issuing the mayor’s permit, BPLO (Business Permit and Licensing Office) certificates, and business permits.
