Paolo Contis has finally spoken up on his controversial breakup with former partner LJ Reyes.

On Wednesday, the actor posted a lengthy statement on his Instagram account wherein he addressed the issues and rumors surrounding him and other people these past few days.

First off, Contis denied the rumors that he was under the influence of drugs nor he was hurting LJ and their children. However, he admitted that a third party was involved in their split, but denied that it was his "A Faraway Land" co-star Yen Santos.

"Aaminin ko, naging marupok at g*** ako sa ilang taon naming pagsasama. I'm not proud of it. For that, I'm sincerely sorry. I'm truly ashamed of my actions," the actor wrote.

"She was never the reason of our break up. I was. Kung matagal na kaming hindi okay ni LJ, it was mainly because of me," he said. "Masyado niyo siyang diniin sa issue na to. Pati pag promote namin ng movie nabahiran na ng kung anu ano."

Paolo also confirmed that it was indeed Yen who was seen with him in Baguio, a day after Reyes revealed their breakup in an interview with host Boy Abunda.

"When LJ left for the States with the kids, I went to Baguio for 3 days dahil ayaw ko sa Manila at gusto kong makapag isip isip," he said. "Naging insensitive ako about the possible effects nung issue and I invited Yen for a day para may makausap since malapit lang siya sa North din."

"She went there as a friend. Hindi ko naisip na madadamay siya ng ganito. I’m sorry for this," Contis emphasized.

Meanwhile, Paolo said he wanted to see and take care of his daughter, Summer, but noted that he understood and respected Reyes’ decision to take their children to the US.

"I was very clear to LJ when I told her I want to see and take care of Summer kahit hindi kami okay," he said. "Sana balang araw makapag usap kami ng maayos para sa bata. Madami pang kailangan pag usapan pero sa amin na lang ni LJ 'yun at sana respetuhin niyo 'yun."

He also defended his manager, Lolit Solis, and asked the public that she is merely doing what any mother would do.

Paolo then apologized to LJ, their kids, and even his ex-wife Lian Paz — and asked the bashers to direct all the hate toward him.

“I will work on making myself a better person and learning from this. But for now, please respect our privacy and pray for us,” Contis said. “Ngayon kung hindi pa po kayo pagod, please direct all your hate and bashings at me. No one else deserves it, ako lang. Thank you."
