The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) raided a Korean-operated POGO hub located in a hotel in Pasay City on Monday, February 17, leading to the arrest of six South Koreans and 15 Filipinos.
According to PAOCC's report, the suspects were found operating in one of the rooms in the basement of the Heritage Hotel.
The operation stemmed from an order issued by Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado after informants reported that the Korean group was "engaged in online gaming that targets Korean nationals."
PAOCC stated that, aside from the said gaming operations, the group is also allegedly involved in game-fixing and online scamming.
The suspects have been brought to the PAOCC Custodial Facility for the necessary immigration inquest. Likewise, a case-building investigation will commence tomorrow, February 18, 2025.
"Possible charges being eyed include but not limited to the following: violations of the Securities Regulation Code, Illegal Gambling in Relation to RA 10175, Money Laundering and the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act, among others," said PAOCC.
