The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission (PAOCC) spokesperson Winston Casio, said that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo is possibly heading to the Golden Triangle, due to her family’s business interest near the area.
“She (Guo) will definitely not go to China in as much as she is already a person of interest as far as China’s concerned because she’s accused of a serious crime in the Philippines in relation to illegal gambling – and we know how strict China is in relation to gambling in their own territory. So, definitely, she would not be heading to any of those territories,” Casio assured a news forum in Quezon City on Saturday.
When asked about the feasible territories she might enter, Casio said that PAOCC is confident that Guo is trying to get into the Golden Triangle region in Southeast Asia, due to her family’s gambling interests in Cambodia.
"They are part of a big criminal organization, 'yung Fujian Gang kung saan kabilang ang mga Guo ay kabahagi ng Golden Triangle triad," he added.
The Golden Triangle is situated in Southeast Asia and borders some parts of Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar. The region is known for being the center of opium production and as the source of narcotics globally.
The Philippine government is currently identifying the exact location where Guo will land, as the region is considered a porous area for transnational organized crimes.
“It depends where in the Golden Triangle she will land…So, the Golden Triangle, those countries are very porous in boundaries as I imagined and we know what the Golden Triangle entails when we talk about transnational organized crime,” Casio ended.
