The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has confirmed that dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo left the country through illegal means.
"As per record po ng Immigration, no departures pa po ang nakikita natin. So sa nakikita po natin, umalis po ito illegally, through illegal means," BI Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said during an exclusive interview with DZRH on Tuesday.
"Mukhang hindi sa mga proper channels or mga formal airport or seaport dumaan po itong taong ito," she added.
The bureau is considering the possibility that Guo may have traveled by private plane or through back-door channels.
Sandoval reported that based on the agency's foreign counterparts, they obtained intelligence information indicating that she arrived in Malaysia as early as July 16, followed by an arrival in Singapore on July 21.
She allegedly arrived in Singapore together with her siblings, Sheila Leal Guo and Wesly Leal Guo.
Furthermore, Sandoval stated that according to the information obtained from Guo's records in Malaysia and Singapore, the dismissed mayor used her Philippine passport.
"But wala po tayong formal record ng pag-alis niya gamit 'yang pasaporte na 'yan," Sandoval said.
The latest update is that on August 18, she transferred from Singapore to Indonesia, accompanied by her siblings.
Immigration obtained the information last week but chose to withhold it initially while awaiting confirmation and verification from their counterparts before releasing it to the public.
According to the spokesperson, Guo had a booked flight back to the Philippines last week but did not board that flight.
"Mayroon po siyang supposed booking to the Philippines but hindi po nila sinakyan ‘yung booking na iyon. They continued on to Indonesia instead," said Sandoval.
Sandoval firmly said that they evaded immigration inspection by using illegal channels to leave the country.
BI assured that they are closely monitoring Guo's whereabouts and said that the cancellation of Guo's Philippine travel documents could fast track her extradition to the country.
