Schools and Universities must be held accountable for hazing incidents inside or outside the campus, the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) said on Friday.

"Although it is still a legal question, in my opinion, these schools and universities have liability under the principle of command responsibility," PAO chief Atty. Persida Rueda-Acosta said.

The lawyer addressed that universities were not even extending help to the families of hazing victims as part of civil damages.

She also mentioned the absence of Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) Chairman J. Prospero de Vera III in the series of hazing incidents.

"The CHEd, especially Chairperson Prospero de Vera, must be involved here, where is he now, what is he doing to these schools under his turf," Acosta added.

This was after the families of hazing victims of Tau Gamma Phi sought PAO’s assistance to take legal action.
